Lake Tahoe (Take 2)
Yep on the corner of Faris and Kahle, you'll find some immature yet funny vandals:

I'm pretty sure I know this family:

Not on any circumstances are you allowed...

...to hurl yourself down this steep road, Jackass!

Had a delicious breakfast over at Heidi's...

...and got to sit in Heidi's fancy booth, Appenzell, named after a region in Switzerland (okay, I had to Google it).

Amy Winehouse R.I.P.
Forget the tabloid stories. Ignore the vultures picking over her like the latest piece of meat.
Remember the tallent. Remember the art she created. That's what I'm going to miss. I was rooting for Amy. I have both her albums and the guest tracks she did for Mark Ronson, but it's not enough.

We had tickets to see her in San Francisco back in 2008. But then she wasn't granted a Visa and had to cancel the entire tour. She even performed via satelite that year on the Grammy's. I would have loved to have seen her live.
Amy was supposed to sing the last Bond theme. But as Mark Ronson said in an interview, "She's not ready". The song never happened.

Yep, we all saw her death coming. But if you're like me, you really didn't want it to happen. I'm gonna miss her.

Winnie The Pooh

I'm an avid reader of the critic Mick LaSalle. He's the top notch movie reviewer for the San Francisco Chronicle. When I read the byline he was reviewing the kid flick "Winnie The Pooh", I scratched my balls and said, 'huh?'. But the review is charming and damned near fanciful.
Mick wrote:
"The makers of "Winnie the Pooh" had enough material for a good 65 minutes, and so they did something unusual, practically unheard of in modern times. They made a 65-minute movie."
And his final paragraph sums it up:
"So Eeyore has misplaced his tail, which makes him more depressed than usual, and Winnie and his friends go looking for it. Along the way, Winnie looks for honey, and that's about it, folks. He's a little bear, he's hungry, but he wants to help his friend, too. That's all there is, and all you need to know, though I'll add, too, that this movie reminded me of being 6, and I liked the reminder."
Read the whole thing here.
Bottom line? I like being reminded of being a 6-year-old.
18 Hour Visit
This bagel with salmon says it all about my weekend. Saturday breakfast at a new favorite place - Riverside Clubhouse - will forever be on my brain (or at least until my next visit). Pleasant...no, it was a glorious surprise. Food, decor, service, and alluringly hypnotic water feature on the patio.

Loved this headstone in German. Haven't seen it before.

And a cooler than cool gate to this plot. I dunno, the history in this old cemetery really is great to revisit.

Hot Italian always knocks it out the park with their classic yet inventive pizza menu. Loved this salad atop a simple crust. But that's the silver lining. First the server actually collided my pie with my cohort's dinner, spilling it on the floor causing the dish to be made a 2nd time. Next the server forgot to put in one of my companion's order (hello? count 'em 1, 2, 3, and 4).

The complimentary "I fucked up" gelato really didn't hit the spot...sigh...
